The Portuguese Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development, has organized, in cooperation with OECD, an international conference on “Regional Policy around the World”, which took place at the city of Porto on the 29th September 2008.
The event brought together government leaders, policy makers and practitioners to debate the impact of regional policy, in a total of almost 200 participants from across all OECD countries.
The morning session was devoted to the public presentation of the report “OECD Territorial Review of Portugal”, while the two afternoon sessions discussed the present and future perspectives of regional policy in a global context.
The goal of this conference was to make a valuable contribution to hot topics of international debates on regional policy, including the preparation of the 2009 OECD Ministerial meeting on regional policy, and the debate on post-2013 European cohesion policy.
